AirPhrase · English ↔ Japanese

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026

This policy explains how AirPhrase handles information when you use its on-device and online English–Japanese text and speech translation, Japanese-to-English photo translation, and Apple subscription features.

1. Information we process

On-device mode

On-device mode uses models included with the app to process text and microphone audio on your device. Translation content and recordings are not sent to our servers merely because you use on-device translation. The app stores preferences such as your selected translation mode and local feature readiness in UserDefaults. We do not use these preferences to identify or track you.

Online mode

Do not submit sensitive information that you do not want a third-party service to process. Online requests may involve transfers among Hong Kong, mainland China, and other regions in which our service providers operate.

Subscriptions and support

Apple handles subscription purchases, payment methods, and refunds. We use StoreKit to determine whether a subscription is active, but we do not receive your full payment-card details. Emails and attachments you voluntarily send to support@xfields.ai are used to respond to your support request.

Operations and security data

Our servers and reverse proxies may record IP addresses, request times, request paths, status codes, and basic network diagnostics in security logs. We do not intentionally write translation text, speech content, or photos to operational logs. Routine security logs are retained for no more than 30 days, although relevant records may be kept longer when needed to investigate a security incident or comply with law.

Product and service analytics

AirPhrase uses PostHog to receive anonymous product-usage and service-performance events. These events may include app version and build, release channel, feature or endpoint used, translation mode and language direction, success or error category, and processing duration. Backend events use a new random request identifier for each request rather than a persistent user identifier. We disable person profiles and location lookup for backend events and do not send IP addresses, translation text, recognized speech, audio, or photos to PostHog.

2. How we use information

We use the information described above only to provide translation and subscription features, understand aggregate feature usage and service performance, improve reliability, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, secure the service, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, use advertising SDKs, track you across apps, or serve ads based on translation content.

3. Service providers

These providers may process necessary information under their own terms and privacy policies. We expect providers to process information only as needed to deliver and secure their services.

4. Retention and deletion

The AirPhrase backend does not save the text, audio, or photos from ordinary translation requests to a database or file. Request content is released from application memory after processing. Anonymous analytics events are retained only as reasonably needed to analyze feature usage, performance, and reliability. We retain support emails until the issue is resolved and for a reasonable follow-up period. You may email us to ask about or request deletion of support records we actually hold.

5. Your choices and rights

6. Children

AirPhrase is not intended specifically for children under 14. A user under 14 should use online features only with a parent or guardian's consent and guidance. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us.

7. Security

We use measures such as HTTPS/WSS encryption in transit, server-side access controls, rate limiting, and minimized logging. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so avoid submitting confidential information unrelated to translation.

8. Changes and contact

We will update this page and the “Last updated” date when our features or data-handling practices materially change. For privacy questions or rights requests, contact support@xfields.ai.
